One of the more difficult aspects of treating patients in a hospital (aside from actually treating the patients) is keeping a close eye on them. In a bid to make that bit easier for everyone involved, but especially nurses, Corsano Health today announced a partnership with Netcare Limited to bring 24-hour monitoring to all of its general wards — representing some 6,000 beds — in the form of smart, medical-grade wearables.
Stay strapped, even in the hospital
Corsano won’t hand over the goods all at once. First, the smart wearable will undergo an “extensive pilot” at a ‘flagship’ Netcare facility, before eventually expanding to all of Netcare’s general wards around the country. It’s not just the wearable that’ll do all the hard work; it’s Corsano’s cloud platform, “seamlessly integrated into Netcare’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) environment.”
The wearable offers continuous monitoring for heart rate, respiratory rate, core body temperature, oxygen saturation, and, “uniquely at this scale, cuffless blood pressure.” And because it’s 2025, Corsano outfits the device with predictive algorithms and ‘early-warning alerts’ to help extend coverage beyond the ICU.

The idea is to, obviously, improve patients’ stay, with the wearable meant to alert nearby clinicians ahead of any deteriorating medical conditions — while also simplifying the lives of the clinicians themselves. Corsano also promises “rich longitudinal datasets for quality improvement and research,” which’ll refine Netcare’s abilities to handle future cases and “power clinical research.”
“We are honored to partner with Netcare to enable continuous multi-parameter monitoring for all patients in general wards… Together with Netcare’s clinical teams, we look forward to demonstrating how CardioWatch continuous data, combined with predictive algorithms and EMR integration, can reduce adverse events, support nursing staff, and ultimately save lives,” said Peter Stas, Corsano Health CEO.
