Just days ahead of its official launch in China (15 October), key specs concerning the highly sought-after Honor Magic 8 Pro have leaked, and it’s as impressive as you’d imagine. Following on from Honor’s Magic 7 Series, this year’s Honor family debuts with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, which Samsung itself is reportedly pursuing.
The news comes courtesy of tipster Digital Chat Station, revealing a few of the key specs over on Weibo. That’s not all. The Magic 8 Pro even found itself listed on Geekbench, offering potential customers a fairly good idea of how the company’s Snapdragon efforts stack up against the competition. Again, it’s all unsurprisingly impressive.
Feeling pretty Honor-bound right now

On top of the leaks of a Snapdragon chipset powering the device (with 16GB of RAM), the leaker revealed that the Honor Magic 8 Pro will feature a 6.71-inch quad-curved display (1.5K res). It’ll be paired with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and 3D face recognition technology.
We don’t doubt that Honor’s display is up to scratch, but we’re more interested in putting the rumoured 7,200mAh battery and accompanying 120W charging spec to the test. Hell, even if you can’t afford Honor’s Pro flagship, the regular Magic 8 should suffice for most with a 7,000mAh battery and 90W wired charging.

Honor’s never been one to disappoint where its camera tech is concerned, and that hasn’t changed here. Expect to see a 50MP 1/1.31-inch sensor leading the charge in the rear, coupled with a 50MP ultrawide shooter and a 200MP periscope telephoto with f/2.6 aperture and 85 mm focal length. Oh, and a 50MP sensor on the front.
We should mention that a separate leak from ‘Panda Is Very Bald’ on Weibo calls Digital Chat Station’s accuracy into question, pointing out that Honor’s flagship reps a 64MP telephoto on the back rather than a 200MP shooter. It’s also thanks to Panda Is Very Bald that we have any charging specs for the base Honor Magic 8.
