Popular fitness apps Strava and Runna have combined what you’ll pay for them into a single annual subscription, according to an FAQ on the Runna website. American pricing for the bundle is set at $150/yr (R2,650) but here at home, the package deal costs just R1,200 a year.
Whether it’ll stay at that price remains to be seen, but it is a handy way to get access to the movement-tracking app as well as its running-specific partner at a lower cost. The company has several methods for snagging the package, even if you’re already giving it a bunch of money for both.
Paying for gait watchers
The bundled subscription is available directly via the app’s main website or either of its mobile apps (Android or iOS). Once there, fitness fans with a data habit can opt into the Strava + Runna Subscription. It provides a year’s access to both Strava and Runna Premium for a single (and in South Africa, a remarkably lower) annual price.
Those who haven’t used Runna in the past will be prompted to download, register, and sync the training app to access their new Premium subscription. Anyone with the app installed will skip the download and simply sync, while those with both fitness apps already connected simply have to fork over that annual payment. No further action will be needed.

It gets a bit trickier if you’re already a subscriber to Runna or both apps. Monthly users can cancel their Runna subscription and switch to annual (at the combined pricing), while annual users must contact Runna CX via the app to sort out the billing issues so their combined subscription activates as intended.
Anyone on an annual Runna plan won’t see their already paid-for sub disappear into the ether, at least. Remaining time will be joined to the end of the Strava/Runna chimaera, so no time paid for should be lost. The company won’t be issuing refunds for cancelled annual subscriptions as a result. Still, you work out. Your stress levels can probably handle sorting out an online payment Gordian knot, right?
