Build now, justify later – Lego's Christmas in July sale knocks 30% off some of its biggest sets

It’s seldom a financially sound decision to pick up a new Lego set, particularly if the set you’re after blows past the 3,000-piece mark. Until now. Lego’s Christmas in July sale has kicked off across its local sites and online storefront, Great Yellow Brick, knocking 30% off more than 150 sets. The sale began yesterday and runs until 31 July 2025 — leaving you more than enough time to convince your spouse this is a good investment. Honest.

Building your living room, brick by brick

These aren’t your run-of-the-mill sets, either. Lego’s dropped the prices of some of its most iconic sets, with the headline being a R3,360 saving on the 5,000+ piece Star Wars Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser, down from the staggering R11,200 price it was originally. We’re more interested in sets like The Great Deku Tree (R3,920) or Adam West’s personal Batmobile, now going for a more manageable R2,100.

If it’s proper value you’re after, some of the sale’s ‘expansion’ sets, which can be tacked on to their more expensive counterparts (though if we’re being honest, they don’t look all that bad on their own), can be nabbed for up to 50%. Only one full set included in the sale is also half-price – Black Panther: War on the Water, going for R775.
