MTN releases cheaper price plan specials for its home internet service

MTN (Yellow)

MTN, two weeks into celebrating its “Today We Make Moves” rebrand, has released full price plans for its 5G and fibre offerings, rejigged for better affordability so more people can get access. The affordable Shesha plan, as well as a two-month special on its fibre plan, should ease the cost of home internet access for middle-class and low-income households.

MTN turns down the price pressure

The Shesha plan breaks down into two tiers:

Customers in 4G locations can opt for MTN’s fiber plans instead. For the first two months only, MTN is giving customers reduced prices for uncapped connectivity on month-to-month contracts. Buyers get a free-to-use router and the delivery and installation thereof, for free. Home Internet customers also get 50% off select mobile plans.

It’s worth reiterating that prices revert to normal after two months.

MTN South Africa’s Postpaid and Residential General Manager, Bertus Van der Vyver, summed up MTN’s intentions with this move: “Our investment in 5G infrastructure is not just about delivering faster speeds. It’s about driving innovation, efficiency, and growth across all sectors of society. By offering reliable home internet, we’re making sure that every South African has the tools they need to succeed in the digital world.”
