“I have been told the Switch 2 will be revealed on Thursday, January 16th.” Those are the sweet, sweet words you’ve all been waiting for, folks. That’s coming from the mouth of reliable leaker NateTheHate, who accurately leaked the release date for the PS5 Pro and Nintendo Alarmo. They have reportedly hit the proverbial nail on the head regarding the highly anticipated second-coming of the Nintendo Switch.

Minutes after NateTheHate’s comments went live, it was corroborated by VGC as well as The Verge’s “own inside sources.” The Verge reckons the actual reveal is pencilled for Friday, 17 January, with a basic announcement taking place the day before. We can just picture it now: “This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. Tune in at 7AM P.T for the reveal of the successor to the Nintendo Switch. There will be no games shown at the reveal.”
That might sound like a joke (because it is), but NateTheHate warns that the reveal will almost entirely be focused on the hardware side, with little to no information on upcoming games for the console. Nintendo of Europe’s suspicious tweet teasing a new Donkey Kong game might disagree, however, but we’ll have to wait and see for ourselves.
“I’ve heard that the reveal itself is going to focus almost exclusively on the console itself. There is not going to be any presence of games. There could be a game shown running on the screen, depending on how the trailer is put together, but software is not going to be a focus.”

Fortunately, NateTheHate – who believes the Switch 2 will arrive in May or June this year (something VGC has heard as well) – has some news on that subject, just in case Nintendo decides to leave us hanging. One of the big launch titles is reportedly Mario Kart 9, with the Brooklyn plumber hitting our Switch 2 screens again during the holiday season. Super Mario Odyssey 2, anyone?
That’s first-party. Nate also revealed that Metal Gear Solid Delta will eventually arrive on the Switch 2, alongside at least six of Ubisoft’s more recent titles, including Assassin’s Creed: Mirage and, we’re assuming, Shadows. Talk of a Final Fantasy VII Remake was also bandied about. That’s in conjunction with the rumours of Xbox-exclusive titles Halo and MS Flight Simulator also making their way to the console sometime in 2025.
As usual, it’s worth taking any news not from any official Nintendo channels with a pinch of salt.
