Seriously, WhatsApp has been knocking it out of the park lately. Unique usernames, locked chats, and of course, the edit button. Meta’s messenger is due a “bad” update soon, right? Yes, but that won’t be happening any time soon if the rumours over at WABetaInfo are true (and they usually are). This time ’round, Meta is working on multi-account support.
Living a double life
As it stands, the only way to have two instances of yourself across two WhatsApp accounts is to use your phone’s built-in Dual Messenger feature which works… fine, though it can be a hassle to set up and forces users to switch between two different WhatsApps. Yeah, we said it was a hassle. But it is doable.
The app’s incoming multi-account feature, found in the latest WhatsApp Business Android Beta by WABetaInfo – version 2.23.13.5 – would negate the Dual Messenger feature, letting you switch between two accounts in the app, rather than switching to another WhatsApp app entirely. Unfortunately, the feature is only available through the WhatsApp Business beta and hasn’t yet turned up on the regular betas just yet.
Thankfully, according to WABetaInfo, that won’t be the case forever; “It’s also worth noting that we have evidence suggesting its compatibility with WhatsApp Messenger.” Whew.

We don’t have much to go on other than the screenshot above, and the fact that we know the feature is coming… sometime. We know it’ll be found in the app’s profile settings, with a button that’ll allow users to quickly switch between profiles. As for how many accounts each device will be allotted, we couldn’t say, though we know from the screenshot that we’ll be allowed at least three, judging by the ‘Add account’ button right there.
Considering that the feature is still in beta and under development, it’ll be quite some time before it hits the Play and App Stores’ shelves. We’ll, of course, let you know when that is.
