Netflix has released a sneak-peek trailer for season three of The Witcher, though it offers surprisingly little in the way of story. We know that Geralt understands fear and that the five-episode Volume 1 is releasing on 29 June, while Volume 2 – containing the season’s final three episodes – is arriving on Netflix on 27 July.

Considering the latest trailer’s complete lack of information or emotion, we were glad of Netflix’s official plot summary to give us something about what to expect in Cavill’s final season as Geralt of Rivia. Don’t worry, the trailer did give us a glimpse of Geralt’s darkening eyes – something that was an attraction in the series’ season one trailer. We also got a look at possibly the season’s best piece of writing – “Now, for the first time, I understand real fear”.
According to show creator Lauren Schmidt Hissirch, who spoke with Collider in December, the need for a split-up season is due to the challenges surrounding the season’s visual effects, though she didn’t delve into any deeper detail. Whether that is still the case is unknown but visual effects have been a concern for The Witcher in the past.
