Sony is stepping into the world of mobile games after spinning off a separate Sony Studios Mobile Division which has acquired Savage Game Studios. The co-founders of Savage previously worked at Zynga, Insomniac, and Wargaming. New games from the devs will focus on PlayStation IP, both new and existing.
Sony’s end goal is to expand all of its existing IPs to PC, TV, movies, and now, mobile. Earlier this year, Sony said it wanted to put half of its IPs on PC and mobile by 2025. We’re only three years away, which means Sony has plenty of work in its mobile division coming up.

Savage Game Studios, Sony’s new purchase, has yet to release any games. Sony is more interested in the names behind the studio for now. We weren’t offered any other details about the game, leaving us no hints or expectations of what to expect.

Herman Hulst, Head of PlayStation Studios said the company is proud of its work on PC ports.
“Our mobile gaming efforts will be similarly additive, providing more ways for more people to engage with our content,” he said, “and striving to reach new audiences unfamiliar with PlayStation and our games.”
I’m thrilled to welcome Savage Game Studios. They join a new independent PlayStation Studios Mobile Division whose mission is to reach even more new players around the world. Michail and his team are already working on something great; I can’t wait until they can show you. https://t.co/61HpPOmFvs
