IO Interactive, the games developer behind the Hitman franchise, released an announcement yesterday in which it lists what’s coming up next in Hitman 3 – Year 2. The announcement video thanks the 50 million fans of the latest trilogy of games, shows off some features coming to PC and teased another bigger update.
Coming up for Hitman 3
The first game update shown is ray tracing support for PCs. That includes the already implemented enhancements for CPUs with eight cores or more and Variable Rate Shading, a type of rendering technique used by Nvidia GPUs.
The love for the PC fans doesn’t stop there. Hitman 3 launched with VR support but it was exclusive to PSVR. When the Year 2 expansion launches next year in January it’ll be with support for VR on PC. More info, like technical details and the supported VR platforms, will be revealed before the start of the expansion.
Along with the added PC support is a new twist on a fan-favourite game mode, Elusive Target Arcade. But, like with the other updates, we’ll need to wait until January 2022 for more details on how the new game mode works.
In the announcement, IO Interactive also teases a major update. But, unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a little later, around March of next year, for more details on that. We’re sensing a trend here.
Hitman 3 – Year 2 launches on 20 January 2022. This might be a good time to dig into the World of Assassination trilogy of Hitman games if you haven’t already. On PC, you’ll find it on the Epic Game Store and it’ll cost you R634 for the deluxe edition and R423 for the standard edition.
