Father’s Day allows us all a moment to celebrate our dads, grandfathers, uncles and other men in our lives who act as father figures. As lifestyles change, so should the way we choose to celebrate our dads and the time we spend with them. While slippers, ties or grills are always handy gifts, wellness technology in the form of trackers and smart watches will gift dad with healthier habits, encourage fitness as a family and allow for a lot more fun for the whole family to enjoy, together.
Fitbit surveyed a selection of its users internationally to find out how fitness could fit into parents’ busy schedules, and how they could take better advantage of their time with their children to improve their fitness at the same time.
Many families used it as a way to spend quality family time together by staying fit as a unit. The survey noted that 36% of users now exercise with their children.
“On days like Father’s Day, family comes first, but fitness doesn’t have to come last. The gift of a Fitbit can help parents find the fun of staying strong and healthy in every day moments”, says Alexandra Pahomi, Head of PR & Social Media Middle East, South Africa & Central Eastern Europe, at Fitbit.
For those families interested in taking a fit-family approach, here are the top six activities to try out this Father’s Day:
- Walking together;
- Cranking up the radio and doing household chores together;
- On-the-ground play, for example, hide and seek;
- Walking the dog;
- Riding bikes;
- Gardening.
“Gifting dad with a Fitbit tracker will not only be beneficial for him, make him more continuous of his body and his general health condition, but will encourage the whole family to stay fit together”, continues Pahomi.
In celebration of the wonderful men in South Africa, Fitbit will be running a special on its Fitbit Charge 3 standard edition in key retailers from 7 June – 22 Jul 2019 – consumers can look forward to up to R600 discount on the tracker.
