You'll often catch me dreaming of a Wind Waker remaster. Or sleeping. One of the two.

It’s no secret that Xbox really wants in on the handheld gaming hype cultivated by the likes of the Nintendo Switch and, more specifically, Valve’s Steam Deck. The company recently made it clear that it would stoop to using Asus’ custom hardware to get its name out there while it worked in secret on the native handheld. According to Windows Central, Microsoft has reportedly hit the pause button on those particular plans. Xbox isn’t backing down Instead, it’ll double down on the Asus/Xbox partnership in a bid to beat Valve at its own game: gaming handhelds. Judging by the recent…

In preparation for the worldwide launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 next week, Nintendo has taken the overly complicated ‘Switch Online’ app you’d forgotten about and turned it into something useful. It’s now the ‘Nintendo Switch App’ (never change, Nintendo), supports the Switch 2, and adds some pretty handy features to the mix. That’s if you could get it to work, of course. Available today (Android/iOS), we had no issues installing the app on our Android smartphone from the Play Store, but experienced some hassle attempting to link our Nintendo account within the app. This issue doesn’t appear to be…

The Vivo V50 5G has officially come to South Africa after the Chinese company ultimately skipped a local release for the V40. No matter. We haven’t missed much since Stuff tested out the equally incorrigible V30 5G a little under a year ago, which somehow includes the same ageing innards that didn’t exactly interest us two phones ago. You might think the V50 is a premium offering, because technically, it is. You’ll need to fork over R20,000 before you can take home the V50, much like Samsung’s flagship efforts this year, but that’s where the similarities end. A pair of cameras powered…

Rest in Peace, iOS 19. You hadn’t even cleared the womb before Apple chose to send you to the shadow realm. Allegedly. According to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is considering ditching its present numbering scheme for OS updates, instead identifying them by year. Enter iOS 26. Apple’s not done yet Except we’re not in 2026. Like FIFA games of old, Apple’s new update numbering scheme will align with the following year after its release. So, rather than the iOS 19 upgrade scheduled to be released this year, we’re instead going to see iOS 26 come to life. Next…

There’s still a week to go until South Africa’s Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) officially adjusts the country’s fuel prices. Fortunately, the Central Energy Fund (CEF) is predicting that motorists will pay less at the pumps in June than they did throughout May. Unfortunately, the CEF hasn’t yet factored in the massive fuel tax hikes to the general fuel levy recently announced by the National Treasury. You win this round, diesel drivers… These hikes amount to as much as 15-16c/l, virtually wiping out the 19c the CEF expects petrol drivers to save throughout June. As such, there’s no…

It’s only taken the better part of fifteen years and the cacophony of a billion-or-more whiners, but Meta has launched WhatsApp for the iPad. Now that Magic Keyboard can finally be put to good use, yeah? The new app arrived on the App Store this morning, and brings with it all the features you’d expect from the messenger. One that took ages “Bringing all your favourite features to a larger screen, WhatsApp for iPad makes keeping in touch with friends and family even easier. Make video and audio calls with up to 32 people, share your screen, and use both…

It’s never fun to comb through one’s WhatsApp chats for that one specific video, image, or gif – an effort made even more wearisome should the search turn towards the infamous ‘WhatsApp’ folder in your gallery. The Meta-owned messenger understands this and is reportedly plugging away at an update that’ll compile all your media into a single centralised hub, and it’s coming to WhatsApp Web. For now. Scouring the WhatsApp Web What initially started as a feature to simplify media navigation for the typically larger community group chats has seemingly been expanded to support all media, but only for WhatsApp Web…

It’s becoming more difficult by the day to stand out in a world so enamoured by the likes of Samsung and Apple, but South Africans are gradually cottoning on. Brands like Oppo have slowly permeated the local market, this year bringing in the Oppo Reno 13 5G and foregoing the Pro moniker entirely. That might seem counterintuitive, but once you get a peek at the sort of prices Oppo is working with this year, it starts to make more sense. Picking up the Oppo Reno 13 (the ‘5G’ is implied) will set you back R18,000. If you’re struggling to do…
