You'll often catch me dreaming of a Wind Waker remaster. Or sleeping. One of the two.

It almost seems too good to be true, doesn’t it? After what turned out to be a stellar month for South African motorists in September thanks to the fifth consecutive petrol and diesel price drop, we weren’t all that keen to see how the Department would enact its revenge. It appears our fears were unfounded, what with the Central Energy Fund (CEF) foretelling yet another R1+ drop across the board for all petroleum-based fuels. Keep those fingers crossed That’s according to the fresh crop of data captured yesterday, 9 September. There’s still a long way to go before the first…

Have you heard the good news? It’s officially Glowtime, ladies and gentlemen. Apple has, unsurprisingly, come out of the woodwork for its annual iPhone check-up – among other things – and it hasn’t disappointed this year. The Big Fruit Company took to the stage at Apple Park, months ago we’re sure, to unveil the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, and… well, you know the rest. After a rather middling performance where Apple’s Watch Series 10, Watch Ultra 3 2 and AirPods are concerned, here’s hoping that Apple has something big in store for the world for the iPhone 16 and…

Anker’s budget-centric brand Soundcore has just made our day with the news that a follow-up to its fantastic (and only R2,000) noise-cancelling Space One cans wasn’t just in development, but had already made its way to Anker’s storefront. It doubles the price of its predecessor at $200 (R3,500) but adds a revised design that’ll up its portability factor. It’s called the Soundcore Space One Pro if you’re interested. Doing a number two? https://youtu.be/PeM-u1tR-9k It’ll pull off that portability feature through the simple expedient of throwing in a foldable hinge, apparently shaving off around 50% of the original Space One’s…

On 3 December 2024, it’ll officially be five years since Leonardo Dicaprio put down the PlayStation controller, and officially switched over to the Xbox. In other words, PlayStation turns 30 in three months’ time, and it’s celebrating the occasion with gifts, ‘My First GT’, unreleased soundtracks and whatever “Shapes of Play” is. Sony’s still running on fumes after the legendary debut of Astro Bot, which secured Game of the Year status from reviewers everywhere yesterday – including our review of the little guy’s journey throughout the cosmos. It’s a celebration of PlayStation’s storied past while also serving as a glimpse…

After much umming and ahhing from industry leakers throughout 2024, it looks like the Switch 2 is finally gearing up for its first ‘proper’ announcement (if you don’t count this one) soon, possibly targeting a March 2025 release date. That’s been the general idea ever since it was reported that Nintendo would miss its originally intended on-shelf date of the back half of 2024. Gimme. Now. Please? No-one seems to have noticed the Nintendo assembler- Hosiden is spending ¥2bn on production equipment and ¥1bn on automation in FY3/25 for its major customer in amusement (Nintendo). I still expect Sept news and…

Tomorrow is the big day. Astro Bot, PlayStation’s way-too-late reply to Super Mario Odyssey (and arguably Super Mario 64), will finally hit the PS5. Believe us when we say we weren’t all that excited about the prospect of digging into a PlayStation-led 3D platformer. That’s a job for Nintendo, we thought. Then we got our hands on the PS5 exclusive that is Astro Bot and had our minds changed… the easy way. Astro Bot is a stroke of genius, born from the minds of the folks over at Team Asobi. You’ll know them for their work on Astro’s Playroom – that game preloaded on the…

Apple loyalists – the ones who queue up once a year to get their hands on the latest iPhone – are likely beginning to get a little jittery. We don’t blame them. How are they expected to survive with only an A17, or worse, A16 Bionic chipset this far into 2024? Fortunately, they won’t have to wait much longer. Apple’s ‘It’s Glowtime’ event hits the small screen on Monday, 9 September at 19h00 SAST, where the iPhone 16 is expected to debut. Perhaps “expected” is a strong word. It’s an open secret that Apple likes to reserve the unveiling of new iPhones…

The writing was on the wall for Sony’s generic Overwatch rip-off, Concord, ever since it was revealed that the game had only managed to garner an all-time peak of – get this – 697 players on Steam at launch. Which, if you weren’t aware, was less than two weeks back. But even Stuff’s pessimistic souls couldn’t quite believe the news that Sony was shutting the entire project down, delisting it off storefronts and offering players full refunds. Long live… Deadlock? This isn’t the word of some leaker, either. Concord’s very own game director (they had a game director?), Ryan Ellis, confirmed…

Copilot+ PCs are all the rage… somewhere. We don’t have any stats to back that up, but there has to be some logical reason companies are pumping these things out, right? Lenovo, whose Copilot+ PC ambitions stretch to just two laptops, is reportedly looking to grow its portfolio with cheaper AI tech than all the rest. What a novel idea. But there’s no patting Lenovo on the back just yet. We said that Lenovo’s potential hardware may end up being cheaper than the rest – but not necessarily cheap. If the leaks (via The Verge) coming from the ever-useful Evan…

DStv has done the unthinkable. Rather than inform its customers of an impending price hike, the Multichoice-owned broadcaster has announced a return to 2014 prices, knocking down its price to R700/m… on its DStv Stream Premium contract. Still, it’s something. Even if the deal relies on a stable internet connection. Your chance to get on DStv There’s a catch because there’s always a catch, especially when DStv is involved. Like that gym contract you’ve yet to break in, the deal requires customers to lock in for an entire year to unlock the R700/m price tag for all the channels. Otherwise,…
