Several hospitals and clinics across the US were affected by ransomware attacks over the weekend. Staff found themselves unable to use their facilities’ crippled IT systems, forcing them to cancel surgeries and divert a number of patients to other fully operational clinics and hospitals to receive treatment.  Hospitals hacked and hamstrung The hackers responsible for the attack specifically targeted Memorial Health System, which is responsible for 64 medical facilities in the US. Just when we thought the news cycle would get a break from Twitter India stories, the largest opposition party has now had its account blocked, apparently for violating the platform’s rules. The Indian National Congress has taken to Facebook to share it’s contempt for the banning. The microblogging platform recently suspended the account of ex-Indian National Congress president Rahul Gandhi for posting a picture with the family of a nine-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and murdered. Allen Brack, stepped down and the company’s head HR rep, Jesse Meschuk left too, following a massive sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the California Department of Fair Housing and Equality. Facebook recently booted a handful of researchers from the NYU Ad Observatory off its platform for looking into its political ad practices. The social media titan did so by claiming that a browser plugin the researchers were using for their project infringed upon its users privacy, and pointed to its privacy agreements with the Federal Trades Commission as ammunition to back up its decision.
