Towards the end of last year, Logitech held what it called the ‘Logitech G Play’ showcase to… well, show off a few of its new gaming peripherals. Fast forward to now, and we have official confirmation that some of those new devices will make their way to South Africa.
The headliner is definitely the Logitech G Pro X2 Superstrike, with its new ‘HIT’ system that replaces traditional microswitches. We’re also getting two new gaming headsets — the Logitech G321 and the Astro A20 X.
There are actually no strikes involved
With the curiously-named G Pro X2 Superstrike, Logitech have replaced the traditional left- and right-click microswitches with a new “haptic inductive trigger system” (HITS) that uses magnets to allow for adjustable actuation distances. The Swiss company says this can reduce click latency by “up to 30 milliseconds”. If you’ve ever tried to count to 30 milliseconds, you’ll know how hard it is to tell the difference between that and, say, 20 milliseconds. We look forward to trying it out for ourselves (the mouse, not counting to 30ms) to see if those claims hold water.
If you’re eager to see what all the fuss is about, you can pre-order yours today already from Computer Mania for R3,500.
Something for your head
The Logitech G321 is supposedly inspired by Logitech’s gaming community. We’re not sure how that works, but we know a wallet-friendly wireless headset when we see one. The aim here was to provide gamers with “high-performance audio at an accessible price point.” Logitech has managed that in the past, so there’s little reason for it to fail here.
Judging from the images supplied, it looks like you’re getting plenty of padding, which is essential when your buddy whips out the “just one more game, we can’t end on a loss.” Hopefully, the battery can keep up. Unlike the Superstrike, the G321 is already available for purchase through Computer Mania for the much more reasonable R1,200.
Something for the console gamer’s head
If you’re more at home with a controller in your hands, you might be more excited to see the Astro A20 X confirmed for SA. This wireless headset is aiming at the slightly more premium side of the market. You know, the folks who have more than one gaming system that they like to switch between. If that’s you, you’ll probably love to know that now you won’t have to fiddle with any settings, cables, or connections while you’re swapping between your PS5 and Switch. The Astro A20 X will switch at the press of a button… providing you’ve already paired it with your systems, of course. The feature was previously available on more premium headsets, like the Astro A50 X.
The Astro A20 X is already available for purchase from Computer Mania for R3,300.
