It’s always fun to see a tablet that doesn’t have the ‘i’ or ‘Galaxy’ prefix thrown in, and Honor has obliged. The company has introduced two new mid-range tablets, with the Honor Pad 10 Pro in the driver’s seat, and the more affordable Pad X10 Pro along for the ride. For the time being, however, they’re locked to China.
Honor inbound?

It’s more a question of when Honor’s new hardware will travel to South Africa. Pricing, too, is uncertain, with the Pad 10 Pro fetching 2,700 Yuan (∼R6,300) for the 12/256GB model, while the X10 Pro starts at 1,700 Yuan (∼R4,000). Because Vodacom still demands a R10k+ price for the Honor Pad 10, our hopes that the tablets retain their four-digit prices by the time they reach our shores aren’t high.
Still, if you can shell out for the new gear, it might just be worth the wait. The Pad 10 Pro packs an 11.5in 2.8K LCD (2800×1840) that supports a 144Hz refresh rate and the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Or if you’d rather turn it into an oversized ereader, Honor sells a ‘Soft Light Edition’ that’s meant to imitate reading on paper. Ditto for the Pad X10 Pro.

Underneath it all is a 10,100mAh battery and an impressive wired 66W charging spec squeezed into the 6.1mm tablet, alongside the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultra and 12GB RAM. Several storage flavours are also available. Don’t expect much selection when these arrive locally, though.
On paper, it’s easy to see why the Pad X10 Pro is the cheaper of the two. It shares a 11.5in display with its sibling, though it’s capped to 120Hz, a 2508×1504 resolution, and only 400 nits brightness. The biggest downgrade is easily the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 chipset tucked inside, accompanied by 8GB of RAM. It’s brought that price down even further by sticking in an 8,300mAh battery that’s limited to 35W wired charging.
