SteelSeries is one of the better names when it comes to choosing a gaming headset that won’t mind having rude insults thrown at it. The SteelSeries Arctis Nova family — the Nova 7 in particular — is proof of that, and can be had for a relatively reasonable price. The company today announced the Arctis Nova 7 Gen 2, featuring the same $200 price tag, real-time audio control, and a 40% battery life upgrade.
Nerves of SteelSeries
It may lack hot-swappable batteries like its more expensive siblings, but the Arctis Nova 7 Gen 2 is no slouch when it comes to battery life. That 40% bump SteelSeries promises? That translates to 54 hours of life on a single charge — six of which can be achieved with only a fifteen-minute charge using the USB-C port.
There’s no shortage of devices the Arctis Nova 7 Gen 2 will play nice with. Consoles, obviously, are top of the list, considering SteelSeries’ whole schtick, but with a choice of a 2.4GHz wireless connection (via a small USB-C dongle) and Bluetooth, it’ll work just about anywhere.

You’ll also have more control over audio than SteelSeries’ previous mid-ranger ever could. Using the SteelSeries Arctis mobile app offers up over 200 EQ presets, and if you’re on PC, you can rig it to automatically detect and adjust your presets depending on the game you’re playing. There’s also a noise-cancelling mic that can be sheathed and disabled entirely if you’ve got something better on your desk.
Looking more premium than it really is, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Gen 2 is available in black, white, and magenta — and hit shelves today overseas for $200 (∼R3,400). Seeing as the last-gen headset still demands a price higher than that locally, don’t expect anything particularly generous when it comes to local pricing.
