You can already get it on your smartphone and your computer, and now Fraimic aims to let you put AI-generated art on your wall with what it calls “the world’s smartest art canvas.”
The company behind the new E Ink canvas is currently running a rather successful campaign on Kickstarter, raising over $800,000 since it launched in September.
The idea is simple: tell your canvas what art you want to see, and it will generate it for you. It’s powered by OpenAI, so you probably don’t have to worry about pesky things like copyright.
More AI slop please, Fraimic
Using Fraimic’s “voice to vision technology” (that’s the part powered by OpenAI), populating your Fraimic (yes, the product has the same name as the company) is as easy as telling it what you want to see. In a Van Gogh mood? It’s got you covered. Need more My Little Pony on your walls? It can probably do that too. We just hope its guardrails are better than what’s currently available… somehow.
You won’t have to be picky about where you hang it either. The frames use a full-colour E Ink Spectra 6 display, which should have no trouble with sunlight reflections. That’s how Fraimic tells it, anyway.
The frames are available in two sizes at present: 13.3in and 31.5in, or about 33cm and 80cm, respectively. They also come sporting 10,000mAh batteries, which the company says should last you multiple years.
While there’s no companion app, you can still upload your own art via “a simple website” (remember those?). That’ll be done over a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection.
If you’re itching to fill your walls with crazy art that you just don’t have the talent to make yourself, Fraimic seems like a decent alternative. Prices range between $300-2,800; just try not to think about all the hungry artists out of a job while you’re admiring your AI-generated art on your smart E Ink display, just as Picasso intended.

Hi Duncan,
First, thanks for writing about Fraimic — I’m glad the concept got your attention. That said, I’d like to correct a few things in the article and clarify what truly sets Fraimic apart from what currently exists.
1. “Powered by OpenAI … you probably don’t have to worry about pesky things like copyright.”
This is misleading. The “voice-to-vision” (AI image generation) feature is optional and entirely additive — the core Fraimic experience does not depend on it. You can already upload your own images over local Wi-Fi (or future local media like microSD/USB) and run everything offline, with no cloud dependency. Turning off servers would not render the frame useless.
2. “More AI slop please, Fraimic” / “what’s currently available … guardrails.”
Yes, critics of “AI art” often point out how chaotic or unrefined results can look. That’s exactly why we’re introducing style prompts. With style prompts, you can guide the aesthetic direction (brushstroke style, color palette, mood, era) — it’s not “AI slop,” but curated generative art under your control. This is one of our core differentiators and is being refined to combat the “one-size-fits-all” generative noise.
3. “You won’t have to be picky … full-colour E Ink Spectra 6 display.”
We’re proud of the Spectra 6 color E Ink panel — but I want to emphasize that it’s not just about “color E Ink + sunlight” as though that’s novel or sufficient. The combination of our patent pending dithering algorithm, hardware-level calibration, and local image processing is what maintains fidelity and nuance. It’s not just a branded color E Ink frame; it’s a device designed from first principles for accurate, stable color display in ambient lighting.
4. Sustainability and longevity (something the article didn’t touch enough).
Fraimic is built to last. We’re using high-quality components, replaceable modules, and a power architecture designed for years of use (the 10,000 mAh battery is expected to last multiple years). We’re also minimizing waste in the design (low-power consumption, efficient firmware updates, modular parts). We believe this is a sustainable alternative to “disposable” digital frames.
I appreciate your interest, and I’m happy to provide you with prototype photos, side-by-side resolution comparisons, or even a working unit so you can judge for yourself. Fraimic is not just AI-generated art on a wall. It’s a hybrid vision: a durable, high-fidelity E Ink art canvas that works entirely offline — with optional generative capabilities you can control via style prompts.
If you ever want more technical materials, a demo unit, or sample images to display, I’d be delighted to send them your way.
Warm regards,
Anthony, Fraimic founder
