Nearly every kid has wanted a Bugatti Veyron at some point in their lives. The only difficult part about that is owning a Bugatti Veyron. But what if we told past-you that Dreame, makers of fine robot and stick vacuums, would one day enter the EV market with a car that can supposedly rival Bugatti’s finest creation?
A Dreame come true
Because that’s exactly what’s happening, according to CarNewsChina. Sources familiar with the project reckon Dreame has split its blossoming automotive business into two. The first, known as Dreame Automotive, will handle the “Bugatti-level” cars and offer both pure electric and hybrid models, while the second, Starry Automotive, will tackle the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley. It’s a tall order for a newcomer.
Dreame has reportedly assembled a “cross-industry talent team” to handle R&D, manufacturing, and QC — with ongoing plans to hire new people across sales, regulatory deals, and other engineering roles. It’s targeting at least four variants per model, a tactic it’s taken from Xiaomi, according to Dreame founder and CEO, Yu Hao.

“One vehicle platform achieving four configurations—this is learning from Xiaomi, with suffix names also referencing Xiaomi. This product can completely challenge Li Auto, crushing everything from the L9 down to L8, L7, and L6.”
It’ll be a while before we see the vacuum company’s Bentley and Rolls-Royce rivals, but it won’t be long before it properly unveils its flagship EV, apparently dubbed “Dreame-Bugatti” internally, with plans for it to be on roads as soon as 2027. The company has plans to debut the car at CES, though what it’s hoping to charge for such a deluxe EV is still under wraps at the time of writing.
