Wacom, the world’s biggest drawing tablet maker, is launching the eleventh edition of its ultra-portable MovinkPad line. The MovinkPad 11 has an 11.45in multi-touch display, 8GB of RAM, and a 7700mAh lithium-ion battery, all while weighing 588g.
Wacom up and get MovinkPad
The MovinkPad is Wacom’s variation on the ultra-portable Movink. But where the latter is meant to be paired with a laptop or PC, the MovinkPad becomes its own drawing ecosystem via an enhanced screen and software. The MovinkPad 11 comes with Wacom’s native app Canvas, as well as the more capable Clip Studio Paint. It includes a free two-year licence for Clip Studio Paint Debut, the lowest lightweight tier for beginners. Users can also easily port their Wacom Canvas sketches over to Clip Studio for increased convenience, and all designs are stored on Wacom’s Shelf storage app, which supports bmp, clip, heic, jpeg, png, tiff, and webp formats.
All that storage is facilitated by a 128GB drive. It runs on a MediaTek Helio G99, a midrange chipset also found in devices like the Galaxy A15. Generally speaking, this should be good enough, but forget about any kind of extensive 3D animation here. It also, a bit confusingly, has a camera, which, even more confusingly, is better in the front (5MP) than the rear (4.7MP).
The device’s IPS display has a 1440p resolution, 8192 pen pressure levels, and has been specially treated to be glare and fingerprint-resistant. It also comes with the Wacom Pro Pen 3. The pen has three customisable buttons and works through electromagnetic resonance (EMR), meaning it doesn’t need a battery or charger at all.
For all the artists licking their chops right now, the Wacom MovinkPad 11 currently retails in the US for $450, which is roughly equivalent to 8,050 Rands.
