We don’t have the data to back up this claim on hand, but there’s bound to be some crossover between audiophiles and Star Wars fans. There’s finally a product for those folks in the shape of Audio-Technica Japan’s Star Wars-themed ATH-AWSW DV wooden headphones.
These limited-edition hand-crafted cans feature polished Echizen lacquer earcups adorned with two Lucasfilm-approved unique images of Darth Vader using the decorative Maki-e technique.
If you’re already sold, then we have some bad news. Audio-Technica Japan is only making ten units, which will be available from its booth at Japan’s Star Wars Celebration event starting 18 April.
Make more, Audio-Technica, we dare you

The other issue is their price. These limited-edition ATH-AWSW DV headphones will cost ¥990,00 (or about R134,300 at the current exchange rate). That’s not the most we’ve seen headphones cost, but it almost seems reasonable considering the company’s top wooden headphones, the ATH-AWKG, go for around R81,200. Almost.
If you somehow secure a pair (good luck), you’ll get more than just the hand-crafted earcups. The ATH-AWSW DV uses 53mm dynamic drivers that have been “uniquely adjusted to create a deep sound that richly reproduces the music of Star Wars.” They support Hi-Res audio playback and boast a frequency range of 5Hz to 45,000Hz with an impedance of 48ohms.
Your purchase will include two detachable cables with gold-plated jacks (3.5mm and 6.3mm), a specially designed wooden case, and a dedicated aluminium Star Wars-themed headphone stand to display them when not in use.
