With only just enough time to conjure up a decent cup of coffee before Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct kicks off at 15h00 SAST today, you might be wondering if an hour’s worth of footage is enough to capture the console’s specs, new features, and a whole host of games? It isn’t, save for a few of Nintendo’s biggest first-party titles.
Nintendo understands this and has set up not one, but two Nintendo Treehouse livestreams, “featuring hands-on gameplay of Nintendo Switch 2 games!” But wait, it gets better. These aren’t your typical hinky-dinky Nintendo events. These are hours-long deep dives into the console’s future, with some real hands-on gameplay.
For the Switch 2!
Join us on April 3rd and April 4th at 7 a.m. PT each day for a Nintendo Treehouse: Live | Nintendo Switch 2 presentation featuring hands-on gameplay of #NintendoSwitch2 games! pic.twitter.com/gsi0MqyZyZ

According to the Nintendo Today! app (which still hasn’t found its way to South Africa), the first of the Nintendo Treehouse streams, taking place on Thursday, 3 April, will consist of four hours of gameplay, while the second stream, scheduled for Friday, 4 April, is slightly less outrageous at three hours long. Imagine just how many cozy farming sims Nintendo could squeeze into these things…
Both Thursday and Friday’s Treehouse streams will kick off at 10h00 ET, correlating to 16h00 SAST.
Personally, we’re hoping for a look at a new 3D Mario title (Galaxy 3 or Odyssey 2, preferably), some more information about Mario Kart 9, a new Super Smash. Bros, and of course, Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight sequel (we refuse to invoke the name) that looks more like a swansong by the day. It’s worth mentioning that it was in Nintendo’s Treehouse that we got a whopping twenty minutes of footage all those years ago. Just sayin’.
