As this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) draws near, Honor has issued invites to the press for a keynote presentation it will hold on Sunday, 2 March in Barcelona, Spain – the day before MWC is set to begin in earnest.
Instead of, or at least in addition to, launching its latest devices globally as it did last year with the Magic 6 Pro, Honor seems to be taking a slightly different approach to MWC this year.
Honor’s AI-infused plans going forward
First on the agenda for Honor’s 2025 plan is to introduce the world to its ‘Alpha Plan’. The press invite was scant on concrete details but heavy with marketing language about what the word ‘Alpha’ means to the Chinese company.
“The term “ALPHA” carries rich meanings across different domains. As a symbol, it represents the pioneering spirit that drives exploration into uncharted territories. In terms of achievement, it signifies peak performance and excellence at the highest level. From a structural perspective, it embodies core strength and fundamental driving force. In markets, while beta represents steady market-following returns, alpha symbolizes exceptional performance that surpasses benchmarks through active innovation and strategic foresight.”
Luckily, it followed that up with something a little more insightful, saying “[w]e aim to build an open-collaborative AI ecosystem with our global partners.”
The invite didn’t mention it specifically, but with Honor already showcasing some of its on-device AI capabilities of the Magic 7 Pro, it seems likely we’ll see more of that device and potentially other AI-capable devices at MWC this year.
If you want to find out what Honor has in store with its ‘Alpha Plan’ you can watch the announcement live on 2 March at 17h30 SAST via Honor’s MWC event portal or on the company’s YouTube page.
