It’s about time, Sony. After weeks of hearing various insiders and tipsters proclaim the forbidden gospel that PlayStation had something big lined up for February, we’ve finally received confirmation straight from the horse’s mouth. Announced in a blog post, PlayStation has a State of Play lined up for midnight tonight, local time.
Annoyingly, this isn’t a Showcase – a larger, longer event that Sony typically reserves for when it has multiple big somethings cooking in the pipeline. The State of Play is usually a shorter, sweeter event focussing on the games landing in the coming months. Don’t get too down. Sony has been known to go hard at these things – previously announcing Ghost of Yōtei and Astro Bot at their respective events. That turned out rather well, didn’t it?
Do it, cowards
Unlike September’s State of Play, which focussed on a mixture of PS5 and PSVR 2 titles, Sony seems to be concentrating all its efforts on console titles. “Tune in live for news and updates on great games coming to PS5. The show celebrates a creative and unique selection of exciting games from studios around the world,” said Sony’s Tim Turi, failing to elaborate further on what we could expect tonight.
The show is expected to be a little over 40 minutes long and, if the rumours are true, free Bloodborne fans from the prison that is the 30fps cap. Bloodborne Remastered has been bandied about by the mad for years, but we’ve got our fingers crossed for a proper reveal this year. March 2025 will mark the tenth anniversary of From Software’s greatest work to date, so an announcement wouldn’t go amiss tonight.

Others reckon that we might finally get their hands on a remastered God of War Collection bringing the PS2- and PS3-era Greek mythology titles to the PlayStation 5, with revamped graphics and possibly new mechanics. We’re doubtful Sony has a full-on reboot on the way, particularly with the rumours of a March/April release.
The 40-minute-long livestream will kick off at 00h00 tonight, 13 February, SAST. It’ll be streamed on YouTube and Twitch in both English and Japanese. If you’re having trouble finding it on official channels this evening, you can always return here and make use of the live stream we’ve embedded down below.
