CES 2025 might’ve ended but there’s still plenty to talk about. Lenovo, for example, announced a refresh of its Legion gaming laptops with the Legion Pro 7i boasting the best specs of the lot. It sports new silicon from Nvidia and Intel and a lap-warming 250W thermal design power (TDP) thanks to Lenovo’s Legion Coldfront Vapour cooling system. And Lenovo’s thrown in some AI for good measure.
Come March, you’ll be able to spec a tenth-generation Legion Pro 7i with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, a Nvidia RTX 5090 laptop GPU, and 64GB of DDR5 RAM. Those are some of the best bits you can put in a laptop so you can expect the price to be equally impressive.
The new Lenovo Legion Pro
To make sure you don’t burn a hole through your lap when you fire it up, Lenovo’s Legion Coldfront Vapour cooling system should keep temperatures in check with some help from the embedded LA1 and LA3 AI chips which will supposedly intelligently adjust CPU and GPU wattage as necessary.
Laptops need displays and the one you’ll find on the Legion Pro 7i seems up to the task. It measures 16in diagonally, uses a 16:10 aspect ratio with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600, and boasts a 240Hz refresh rate. It also uses OLED display tech so you can expect rich colours and deep blacks in the games you play and the content you watch.
When it launches in March in the US, it will come with an asking price of $2,400 (~R46,025) but if you’re looking for top performance, expect to pay a lot more. There’s no word yet on when to expect Lenovo’s latest Legion Pro 7i in South Africa or what it will cost if it arrives here.
