It’s been five months since Rockstar Games graced our screens with the first Tom Petty-adorned trailer for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar then returned to hibernation, leaving us with a 2025 release window and not much else. Until yesterday that is, when Rockstar-owner, Take-Two Interactive, confirmed that the game is slated to release in the Spring of 2025.
Finally, Grand Theft Auto VI
The news came as part of Take-Two’s announcement of its Q4 and full fiscal year 2024 earnings, as reported by Variety. “Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall [our Spring] of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI,” the report reads. Unfortunately, it didn’t delve into any specifics.
In an interview with Variety, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said “I think we’re going to leave it there for now. That [announcement] will come from Rockstar and be consistent with the way they are marketing the title.”

Despite the massive hype surrounding the upcoming GTA title, the company hasn’t been able to keep the money flowing, posting a $2.9 billion loss between 1 January and 31 March. It cites a massive $2.18 billion goodwill charge, $304 million on “acquisition-related expenses” and restructuring costs hitting the $93.3 million mark.
