Local internet service provider Afrihost is gearing up to relaunch AirMobile, its mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), with what seems to be a very enticing offer — 10GB of free data and R100 free airtime. The promotional offer starts sometime next week with the MVNO’s relaunch.
But there is, of course, a catch.
The Afrihost catch
Apparently winning an ‘ISP of the Year’ award five times doesn’t come with a cash prize because the email states that the company can’t afford to give everyone the free 10GB of data and R100 airtime. The number of available promotional deals will be limited in quantity and timeframe.
If you’re an Afrihost subscriber you can expect an email on Tuesday, 6 February with further details on how to claim the offer. If you’re at all interested you probably shouldn’t delay lest you miss your chance. Further details are still unclear since Stuff hasn’t worked out time travel just yet.
When it does eventually relaunch, AirMobile will offer its services through physical SIM cards and eSIMs for devices that support them.
When it first launched in 2016, AirMobile had some pretty compelling offers. It remains to be seen if the compulsion will return.
