In a move that we’re surprised Fortnite didn’t do first, Nicolas Cage is stepping into Dead by Daylight – beard, slicked-back hair and all. Cage is set to reprise his role as… well, himself, taking on the role of a survivor in the survival horror game. Because of course he is. According to developers Behavior Interactive, “It’s the performance of a lifetime,” as if that was a surprise to anybody.
Does it say more about us, or Cage, that we automatically assumed he’d be a killer?
The crossover over we didn’t know we needed

“After countless awards and over one hundred movies shot across the globe, Nicolas Cage had seen it all and done it all — or so he thought,” an announcement reads. “While on set filming the role of a lifetime, his performance summoned The Entity, a malevolent being of incomprehensible power. The actor soon found himself cast in otherworldly Fog, forced to Survive a host of terrifying Killers deadlier than even the most scathing film critic.”

For now, that’s all we know about the Oscar winner’s appearance in the game. We’ll learn more about the addition come 5 July from the developers. For now, Dead by Daylight’s other news is confined to the developer’s annual anniversary livestream, which will be taking place tomorrow, though whether we’ll hear more about the collaboration, we couldn’t say.
As odd as this crossover might feel (and it’s certainly odd), it’s on par for the Dead by Daylight community of late. K-Pop stars, a Demogorgon and Ash Williams are just a few of the pop-culture characters filling out the roster. Nicolas Cage should fit right in.
