Walking around Comic Con Africa, it seems like everyone has something free on offer. It may just be a friendly smile or it could be a shiny new console. Here are a few of the best promotions, competitions, and giveaways we could find.
PCBuilder
If you aren’t already familiar, PCBuilder recently launched a new platform aimed at making building a PC less of a chore. Some people like putting things together, but those people also tend to have lots of cash to spend on a gaming PC. For those that don’t, PCBuilder is holding a giveaway for an entire gaming setup worth R73,000. All you need to do is find their booth (it’s next to Telkom’s), scan a QR code and complete the requirements. We’ve gone ahead and done one for you. The secret code is ‘GAMEONDAYONE’. All caps but no punctuation.
Doritos
Apart from selling tasty snacks, Doritos has two separate PlayStation 5 consoles on offer. The one can be had by tracking down a rep and making them give you a card with a QR code to scan. That will take you to another Gleam giveaway page. For the other, you’ll need to head to Doritos’ stand and complete a scavenger hunt. Thankfully, that one is hard to miss. Look for the orange and follow the shouting. Surprisingly, the chip people aren’t limiting entrants to one or the other. Enter both, win two consoles, and become the envy of everyone.
Call of Duty Mobile
Head over to the Call of Duty Mobile booth if you fancy yourself some COD branded merch. For this one, you’ll need to either have a lot of friends or be really good at COD Mobile. If you’re the popular one, get one, three, five, ten friends to sign up and you’ll score a drawstring bag, a shirt, a cap, or a hoodie respectively. If you’re the next up-and-coming mobile gamer, sit down and play a few rounds. You don’t even need your own mobile, there are a few set up and ready to go. If you’re any good you could score from the same prize pool.
There are many more competitions and giveaways to be had. Everything from free internet for a year from Cool Ideas to an Xbox Series X console if you post the fastest lap time in Forza Horizon 5 at the White Rabbit or KFC booth. You’d need to dedicate the majority of your day walking around to find them all. But hey, it won’t cost you a cent. Minus the admission fee of course.
