If you spent your afternoon looking forward to the Nintendo Direct that took place and were thoroughly disappointed by the lack of a Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker Switch port, you’re not alone. Still, it wasn’t a complete waste of time. We finally got to see some more footage of Breath of the Wild’s sequel, and a title; The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
It still wasn’t enough to satisfy most people’s gaming needs. Just a few hours later, Sony held its September State of Play, which did a better job of releasing the happy chemicals into the brain.
God of War Ragnarök
God of War Ragnarök is right around the corner, releasing on 9 November. Despite this, Sony opted to tease us a little further with a new trailer, showing off more of the game’s story, accompanied by a few morsels of gameplay. We didn’t only see a new trailer though. Sony is releasing a Ragnarök-themed DualSense controller, set to release with the game.
Tekken 8
It’s been a little over seven years since the last instalment of the Tekken franchise graced our screens. Tekken 8 is on the way, with a shiny trailer to keep us occupied ‘til the release. Which is when? Well, we don’t know. Sony failed to mention that part. We know it’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam though that’s about it.
The trailer itself is a work of art. Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada said the trailer was “taken directly from a certain part in the current work-in-progress Tekken 8’s story mode.” Awesome.
Rise of the Ronin
Rise of the Ronin is an entirely new IP, mixing elements of Assassin’s Creed and Ghost of Tsushima together, set in late 19th century Japan. If being a ninja doesn’t excite you, nothing will. You follow a Ronin samurai, free to make choices and explore the world around you, as you see fit. Rise of the Ronin is a PlayStation exclusive, releasing on the PS5 sometime in 2024.
Like a Dragon: Ishin!
Like a Dragon: Ishin! Is a remake of ‘Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin!’ which was a Japan-exclusive title released on the PS3 and PS4. The game comes from the makers of the Yakuza franchise, this time releasing on the PlayStation 5 in February 2023.
Hogwarts Legacy Exclusive Quest
Trailer content for the incoming Hogwarts Legacy game feels endless, which is hopefully a good sign for the game’s launch in February 2023. This time, Sony released a trailer depicting a quest in the game, ‘The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop’ which is a PlayStation exclusive quest, at least at first. After a year, the questline will make its way onto the rest of the consoles.

PSVR2 Star Wars and Demeo
Lastly, we got a look at two new games coming to the PSVR2. ‘Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge Enhanced Edition’ and ‘Demeo’, a “table-top” fantasy board game. There’s not much to say about these two. We know both are releasing in 2023, though concrete dates weren’t mentioned.
