If you happened to miss Toby Shapshak’s conversation with Andy Capostagno before the Boks’ took on Scotland last night, or worse, the game itself, fear not. DStv, the sole supplier of legal South African rugby, has announced new “customer experience enhancements,” starting with a 24-hour rewind ability and cloud PVR recording. It may not help you catch last night’s game, but it sure means you won’t miss the Boks’ next game against England.
Taking a DStv Stream
It’s worth mentioning that these new features are headed to DStv Stream customers, improving upon the current ‘Watch from Start‘ functionality and extending the rewind time to 24 hours. That means no more missing those crucial Machester United games – though if you really are a fan, it may be kinder to uh, leave those in the past.
“With Watch from Start and Cloud PVR, we’re giving viewers more control over their viewing experience,” said Marc Jury, CEO of MultiChoice South Africa. “We know customers want the freedom to enjoy content on their schedule, and these new features bring the flexibility of streaming to the live TV experience. Our customers can now enjoy the best of both.”

DStv Stream customers can expect the new features to roll out as soon as tomorrow, 12 November, for the web version. Watchers on Android, iOS, and “other platforms,” however, will have to make do with the “gradual” updates planned, though DStv offered no time frame for when that may be. Fingers crossed they will hit in 2024.
When 24-hour rewinds eventually arrive, the feature will be limited to a select few channels. A “variety” of SuperSport channels are included, thankfully, as are M-Net, Mzansi Magic, and kykNET. As for cloud PVR recordings, watchers can now save any live content they please, which you can then find in the “My Stuff’ section. Recordings only stick around for thirty days at a time, though, so it’s best not to faff.
