Load shedding is back at 13:00 today

What did we tell you yesterday? We said that it wouldn’t be long before load shedding came back but honestly, we didn’t expect it to be this soon. After load shedding from 10pm to 5am this morning, Eskom has announced that Stage 3 load shedding will be active from 1pm today through to 6am tomorrow morning. Again, it’s a temporary period but what stings most about this one is that the announcement is only coming 30 minutes before the power is meant to die for some people. Great job, Eskom. Your organisational skills are unmatched.

Eskom has stated that this bought of power cuts is necessary because “the power generation system is still severely constrained due to high generation unit breakdowns during the past three days, as well as the need to replenish diminishing emergency generation reserves”. Basically, our stuff keeps breaking and we need time to fix it all. Seems like the most typical of reasons but then again, what’s new?

Here we go load shedding again

So while there’s not much that can be done about this current period of powerlessness, you can always check out this list of excellent apps to keep you busy while you wait for it to end. Or, if you still have some work to do this afternoon, give our guide on how to keep the Wi-Fi on during a power outage a read. Seriously, load shedding from 10pm into the morning is bad, but right now when there’s still a solid afternoon left in front of us? That’s just frustrating. If you’re a little lost with the recent change in load shedding schedules for Joburg, don’t worry! We have that covered for you too.
