Huawei South Africa introduces flash sales and something it calls ‘Lucky Hour’

Huawei Lucky Hour

We’re all familiar with the concept of Happy Hour. The hazy trip to the bar, the battle to carry far too many drinks back to the group, the money still leftover in your wallet. Ah, those were the days. Well, Huawei has something similar heading in South African shoppers’ direction. It’s called ‘Lucky Hour’.

The concept is broadly similar to the alcoholic counterpart. Purchase something from Huawei’s online store at a specific time of day and you’ll get a specific price. Now, this wouldn’t work if it was more expensive than usual. Instead, there’s a discount on offer. The only tricky bit? We’re not sure how deep that discount is right now.

Huawei: “Are you feeling Lucky?”

The info for this program first showed up on Huawei Central, but they seem to be working on the same limited information we have. Several devices are on offer for the so-called Lucky Hour. The Nova 8 (Blush Gold), Watch 3, and Watch 3 Pro are all listed, but pricing seems to be standard right now. Between 14h00 and 18h00 today, on the other hand…

That’s when there’s supposed to be a discount for these items, and possibly others. How deep that discount is, Huawei isn’t saying just yet. But, as Billy Mays says, “But wait! There’s more!” Provided you’re on Huawei’s website tonight, 5 May, anyway.

After Lucky Hour concludes, the Chinese brand is also conducting a batch of flash sales in South Africa. The product spread is limited to four items at a time, and the lineup will change three times. The first batch is available from 18h00, with others available at 19h00 and 20h00 this evening. The catch? Only ten of each product is (0fficially) available.

Whether that’s how it’ll actually play out is anyone’s guess. Based on the product spread, Huawei might be looking to shift older stock. But since the average discount is about 67%, it might be worth checking out this evening.
