There are a few more frustrating sentences to read on a Wednesday morning, after 4 days of Stage 2 load shedding, than, “Regretfully Stage 4 loadshedding will be implemented from 12:00 on Wednesday until 05:00; thereafter Stage 2 loadshedding will continue as previously communicated until 05:00 on Saturday”.

This comes by way of Eskom’s Twitter account, which goes on to explain that over the last 24 hours units at Medupi, Kusile and Matla tripped, and units at the Lethabo and Arnot stations were forced to be shut down.
Eskom says it expects two generating units to return throughout the day, but we wouldn’t hold our breath.
The statement goes on to explain that, “loadshedding is implemented as a last resort to remain the stability of the power system regardless of the stage of loadshedding. The implementation of Stage 4 loadshedding is therefore, no cause for alarm as the power system remains to be effectively controlled.”
Well, we’re relieved. And we were just about to start panicking there.
Once again, Eskom apologises for any inconvenience load shedding may cause, which makes everything so much better. Thanks, guys.
As mentioned Stage 4 is set to continue on to Friday morning, with Stage 2 taking the baton from there until Saturday morning. But at this point, does anyone believe load shedding will end when Eskom says it will? Best break out the candles, folks.
