Amazon’s 10th-gen Kindle Paperwhite, released back in 2018, is very nearly the perfect eReader but that doesn’t make Jeff Bezos more money so the company’s got something new on the way. How do we know this? Well, Amazon mucked up and posted the details to its website a little early.
Here’s what we (already) know, ahead of anything like an official announcement.

Website Good eReader spotted an updated product listing on Amazon Canada’s website, a listing that has since been disappeared from the internet. The comparison shows that there’s a Kindle Paperwhite 5 (which would be the… 11th-gen Paperwhite…?) on the way, in two variants — both of which keep the IPX8 rating, because it would be silly to take that away. The major change is the increased display size, which creeps up to 6.8in in both models and which will be flush to the edges of the device, but there’s also something a little special coming.
The Kindle Paperwhite 5 launches with 8GB of storage but the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (just whose signature is left opaque) will drop with a mighty 32GB of storage and the ability to charge wirelessly. The Signature Edition also borrows the Kindle Oasis’ adjustable lighting abilities, while both models will use a collection of 17 LEDs, a huge improvement over the last Paperwhite’s five-LED system.
Amazon’s expected to make its new devices official soon. Based on the Canadian pricing, the new model Kindle Paperwhites should step into the place currently occupied by the 10th-gen hardware, without mucking with pricing much at all.
