New digital liquor store launches in South Africa

The South African liquor industry has faced a jarring year-and-a-half. Lockdown restrictions in the country (quite literally) changed overnight in most cases, halting alcohol sales completely a few times over many months. Now, a new start-up online delivery service is looking to help increase alcohol sales in the country.

Booze on the move with Liquor.co.za

Liquor.co.za prides itself on offering ‘the easiest way to buy alcohol’, that’s considering you don’t know about the absolute lifesaver called Checkers Sixty60. Nevertheless, the new platform went live this week, and offers a surprising range of alcoholic drinks to choose from.

“Born out of the need for an e-Commerce portal that can service both direct-to-customer (D2C) and high-volume business-to-business (B2B) requirements, liquor.co.za is the ground-breaking result of a collaboration of expertise and experience from key players in the liquor and entertainment industries,” a press release details.

As with many new platforms, you have to pull in customers with a unique offer. And this site is absolutely flooded with special offers. This includes free delivery for orders over R900, a loyalty point system, the chance to win R10,000 if you sign up on the site and a discount if you sign up for the newsletter.

Other than that, the website’s interface is easy to navigate, clean and features a few opening special prices on selected drinks.

“We have gone with a mobile first approach,” says Allen Jaffe, one of the founders. “Not only have we crafted one of the easiest checkout experiences, but we’ve engineered it to be easy to find what you’re looking for, quicker than anyone else.”
