So you’re keen to try out this new NFTs thing, but you don’t have several million dollars for one? Twitter, apparently, has you covered. If you’re one of the 140 lucky folks who will get their hands on one of the 140 non-fungible tokens that the micro-blogging service is giving away.
Yes, this is an actual thing, and yes, it’s awfully easy to be in the running for one of them — but, like all online giveaways, it going to come down to luck.

Twitter posted (on its own service, of course — what, you expected them to use Facebook) about the number of NFTs it is giving away. The nonexistent items are registered on Rarible and are currently valued at more than you’d expect (especially if you’re South African).
So how do you get one? Show interest in them, either on Rarible or on the various tweets showing what NFTs are on offer — so interact with the thread embedded above (along with thousands of others) and hope that the company notices your efforts above everyone else’s. Which, almost certainly, comes down to luck of the draw at the end of the day. But it’s a chance to get a digital item valued at more than R100,000 (or more) for posting on the social network. That’s not a bad days work.
NFTs, according to the company, has seen more than 29 million tweets since they first showed up on the scene. Company CEO Jack Dorsey also sold his very first tweet as an NFT recently, for the tidy sum of just $2.9 million. Perhaps there’s a reason Twitter’s getting on this particular bandwagon.
