Black/Gold – Huawei’s stylish P Smart 2021 is throwing some shade(s) your way

Huawei’s P Smart 2021 isn’t just on the way, it’s here with a vengeance. The mid-range-priced handset with a set of flagship features isn’t just an affordable way to get your hands on Huawei’s always-excellent AI camera tech. It’s also priced just right to bring some serious style to your fashion statement.

Which hue are you?

The P Smart 2021 has landed in South Africa in two different shades – both are extremely stylish but they’re also both aimed at very different sorts of people. First up, there’s the dusky Blush Gold shade, which suits all sorts of evening settings. Whether you’re having a date night in or splashing out on a socially-distanced night on the town, the Blush Gold handset will always look good slipping out of your pocket.

If you’re a little more traditionally minded, then the visually-arresting Midnight Black handset is for you. Black has never, ever gone out of fashion. For that reason, this edition of the P Smart 2021 really will go with absolutely everything. The dark back panel perfectly complements the bright 6.67in IPS LCD display.

More than skin deep

Huawei’s handset isn’t just an attractive face. Beneath the surface it’s all business – and the P Smart 2021 is in the ‘going fast’ business. There’s a Kirin 710A processor, one of the company’s 14nm chipsets, powering all the things, handily backed up by 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Don’t worry about getting less than that – the RAM/storage is a default across the range.

That 6.67in IPS LCD features a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 – far above what you’d expect to get at this price point. Also unexpectedly affordable are the side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 5,000mAh Li-Po battery, 22.5W fast charging capability and then there are the camera chops…

Absolutely vision-ary

Huawei’s not known to skimp on camera tech. And why would they – it’s just so good. The same holds true for the P Smart 2021, which features an 8MP front-facing camera with Huawei’s attendant software features, a feature of the always-excellent EMUI 10.1. But that’s not the star of this particular show.

That accolade goes to the rear camera array – four sensors that make up one of the best cameras available on any handset, let alone a mid-range smartphone. Huawei’s 48MP main wide-angle sensor is helped by an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP duo – one handling macro duties and the other detecting depth. The only issue with the cameras? They can’t be used to take absolutely gorgeous photos of the phone you’re holding in your hand. Unless that is, you own two P Smart 2021 handsets…
