LG’s Velvet 5G smartphone was supposed to turn up in SA a fair while ago but… well, you know how things are. Countries shut down, tech launches get pushed back, life happens. But things are resuming, slowly, which means we’re about to get a decent look at the likes of LG’s newest smartphone. Like, officially official. Just not live and in person, because that’s cancelled for 2020.
Deja vu
Only, since you’re reading Stuff, you already know a whole lot about what that phone entails. We’ve known since the mid-April that the LG Velvet 5G would feature an all-new design language (including a new Raindrop camera design) and we’ve known since the end of April exactly what all the other specs entailed. There’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 5G chipset, a triple, 48/8/5MP rear camera array and a 4,300mAh battery in store, as well as LG’s signature audio tech and a few other features besides. Plus, it looks pretty. And you can see it being unveiled.
The LG Velvet has been on sale in South Africa since 1 July, for just R13,500. Which, as we’ve noted before, isn’t bad at all for a 5G handset.
