LG officially details their 5.9-inch G Pro 2

LG has seen a few details leak regarding their upcoming G Pro 2 smartphone and they’ve dropped a few details of their own but they’ve decided to head off any further information (and possibly get a head-start on the competition at MWC this year) by releasing the whole lot of specs for the G Pro 2 now. A release on LG’s Newroom website has detailed the device, which doesn’t have a launch date yet but which will be available for folks to play with at Mobile World Congress this year.

The 5.9-inch smartphone has gone up in size over its predecessor, which had a display that measured only 5.5-inches. The panel will, of course, feature a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor is taking pride of place and there will be 3GB of system memory available to users. 16GB and 32GB flavours will be available and there will also be a microSD slot if that’s not enough for you.

Android 4.4 KitKat will be installed at launch, there’s a (removeable) 3,200mAh battery to keep it going and the 13MP OIS+ camera will be capable of 4K video recording. HD video recording will be done at 120fps and that talk of an improved speaker system was on the money – LG will be delivering a 1W speaker that is supposed to be 30% louder than the original G Pro’s setup.

In addition, LG has announced a new version of their KnockOn feature called Knock Code, which “…allows owners to power on and unlock their G Pro 2 smartphones in one easy step by tapping their screens using one of 86,367 “knock” combinations.”
