Facebook’s targeted advertising will soon follow you around outside Facebook

Facebook’s advertising won’t always be confined to Facebook, if the social network’s plans for what is essentially a mobile ad network pan out. The company is testing their ability to serve Facebook ads via apps on mobile devices, which is very different from using another ad network to achieve the same result.

The long and short of it is that Facebook intends to use the information it has on users to deliver advertising to those users when they’re away from that Timeline we all love to use. The users will could be on apps that are linked with Facebook in one way or another and the test is to determine whether that targeted advertising can be spread to mobile app developers, making them (and Facebook) a little more money in the process.

According to a post on the Facebook App Developer’s blog “We are running a small test to explore showing Facebook ads in third-party mobile apps. In this test, we’ll be extending Facebook’s rich targeting to improve the relevancy of the ads people see, provide even greater reach for Facebook advertisers, and help developers better monetize their apps.”
