Both LG and Samsung will reveal 105-inch curved UHD OLED TVs at CES 2014

Both LG and Samsung are announcing the same world first, curved UHD OLED TVs that will be making their first appearances at CES 2014 in January. Both television sets will measure 105 inches, measured diagonally, though Samsung is claiming that their version of the curved UHD TV is the “most curved”.

LG’s Yong-kee Hwang, Senior Vice President and head of the company’s TV Business Unit, said in a statement “With a resolution of 11 million pixels, the 105-inch curved LCD panel is proof of our continued leadership in the next generation display market, offering exceptional world-class value to our customers.” The screen resolution will be a massive 5120 x 2160, in keeping with the UHD label.

The specs for Samsung’s announcement are identical in terms of pixel count and screen resolution so it should be interesting to see how the two devices stack up in real-world performance. Right now, the numbers aren’t telling us all that much. Pricing and availability may be revealed at CES 2014 but we’re expecting a very costly price tag when both companies announce how expensive their respective TVs will be.
