FNB’s Nav app scores 1 million users over 12 months, claims 5 million total customers

FNB app carbon Nav

First National Bank’s (FNB) Nav app has been around for quite some time, constantly adding features since its initial launch. That seems to have paid off, with the bank’s service now counting 5 million users under its broad umbrella.

Growth has been steady since the service’s 2016 launch but the last annual cycle turned out to be the major attractor. Nav scooped up a million new users in the past twelve months, fully 20% of its current total and “underscoring the growing demand for FNB’s innovative digital financial solutions”, says FNB.

Nav has several different categories available for FNB customers. Money, Car, Home, Earth, Energy, Marketplace, and Care are the established options but the bank also has a very recent addition — Graduate. Given how descriptive each heading is, you can probably guess what that’s for. If not — it’s all about working for FNB.

The bank credits Nav: Home with helping 600 families find, well, homes each month since the division was launched. “The exponential lift seen in the number of users on the nav» platform in the past year is testament to the helpfulness and tangible value our tools bring to the lives of our customers,” said FNB Personal Segment CEO Lytania Johnson.”

“We believe that these tools will play an important role in our customers’ journey to a better financial future.”

FNB is marking its milestones with a new set of giveaways, accessible via the bank’s social media and app. If you happen to be enticed into swelling its Nav numbers, that’s probably also the point. On offer are a crossover SUV, free fuel for a year (in eBucks), a selection of tech like smartphones and consoles, and then various vouchers.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we’re also excited to give back to our customers by adding value to their lives beyond banking and rewarding their loyalty,” said Jolandé Duvenage, FNB’s Chief Imagineer for Nav. “New customers can also benefit by switching their cheque account to join the nav» journey too. To this end, we have worked with eBucks partners to provide prizes and vouchers from Haval, Engen, Apple, PlayStation, KFC, and Nike.”

See? Told you there was an ulterior motive. Five million customers can’t be entirely wrong, though, can they?
