Samsung’s microLED TVs will set you back at least R1.4 million in South Africa

Samsung MicroLED

Samsung promised, not too long ago, that it was launching its range of microLED TVs in South Africa. They were always supposed to be expensive and almost all of them will be brought in to order as a result. Well, if you were hankering for some microLED love in your living room, the time has come.

Samsung has announced that its newest (and best) TVs are now in South Africa. Specific pricing isn’t something the company’s giving out. The adage goes, ‘If you need to ask, you can’t afford it”, but if you’ve got R1.4 million, you can have the smallest one. Maybe.

MicroLED, not micro-priced

Five different sizes are available in the range. 126in, 114in, 110in, 89in, and 76in are your options, with the smallest starting at the aforementioned R1.4mil. If you’re after the biggest set of the bunch, be prepared to drop R3 million to hang 126in of awesome on your wall.

And you’ll want to do just that. Samsung SA’s Mike van Lier explains, “Ultimately, it is all for our customers and those who get to have the pleasure of witnessing this level of TV will attest to its majestic viewing experience and how it suits their lifestyle.”

More than a million bucks for a 76in TV is a big ask, though, so we can understand any hesitation you might have. Samsung has completed an installation of its 110in model at the Cinema Architects showroom in Sandton, in case you’re feeling the need to try before you buy.

Cinema Architects’ Mauricio Tavares, when he’s not touting the lineup’s screen quality, reckons that the set’s standard audio is “…second to none, and probably the best we’ve heard on a TV”. Sounds like it’d at least be worth checking out.
