Netflix has added a few impressive mobile titles to its stable of free games available to its subscribers just in the first couple of months of this year. The Ninja Turtles, Lara Croft, and a couple of complete newcomers have all made the grade. That’s just the start of the platform’s ambitions for this year (and the next).
Highwater, announced for the platform in February this year, launches on Netflix this month, but there’s far more to come. The streaming service has another 40 game launches planned for the rest of 2023, though it hasn’t yet revealed what all of those games will be. Gotta preserve some of the mystery, after all.

One of the upcoming games, due to launch in April this year, is called Mighty Quest Rogue Palace. It’s an offshoot of Ubisoft’s free-to-play title Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, which was a brain-consuming time-suck for a certain sort of player. Specifically, those obsessed with enemies who drop shiny objects in vast quantities. This new title is a rogue-lite game with similar game mechanics, snarky humour, and the misfortune of living in your pocket… so playing it will always be an option. We’re doomed…
Also coming is the Monument Valley series, which will get additional instalments in addition to the games already out there. Super Evil Megacorp, the developer behind the online game Vainglory, is developing something new for Netflix, and there’s also a second game coming based on Netflix’s own Too Hot to Handle TV show. The first title, according to the company, is “[o]ne of our most-played games to date”. We’ll let the horror of that statement sink in.
In addition to the 40 planned launches for 2023, Netflix also says there are more than 80 games in the works. 70 are in development by third parties and the company’s own internal studio has sixteen titles in varying stages of completion.
