Load shedding is back. Again. It never really went away, despite the off weekend, but Eskom has returned the country to Stage 2. Again, this is nothing new. South Africa was supposed to suffer load shedding every day from 16:00 to 05:00. Now, though? It’s going on all day, baby.
Stage 2 is a water level?
#Stage2 load shedding will be implemented from 09:00 this morning until further notice. This is necessitated by a breakdown of a Duvha generating unit & a delay in returning to service another Duvha unit

You might think that the current rash of damp weather might have something to do with South Africa’s descent into powerlessness. You’d be wrong (so far). It’s not damp coal or large quantities of rocks causing our issues (again). Duvha Power Station in Mpumalanga has lost one of its generating units due to a breakdown. Another unit at the same power station, that was undergoing repairs, is taking longer to fix than expected.
Long story short, South Africa’s on Stage 2 load shedding until Eskom says otherwise. Does this mean that you can safely plan the week ahead around the schedule? Yeah, probably not. The current power situation means the country is up against the wall. Any further issues with South Africa’s power stations could send us down into the pits of Stage 4. Or worse.
