Here is Avo’s first set of deals on Apple products, from iPad to MacBook

If the only thing stopping you from jumping on the Apple bandwagon was having to buy it from the iStore, then things have changed. Nedbank’s Avo app now has Apple products on its platforms. It’s easier to buy, since, being backed by a bank, Avo knows just what you can afford.

The month of June sees the launch of the popular American brands’ products on the platform, so of course there are discounts. There are three main deals — One for iPad, one for MacBook, and one for the iPhone 13 Pro Max. All three are bundles and all three offer payments over 24 months.

Slicing open the Avo

If you log into the super-app this month and check out the Apple bounty, you’ll be greeted by the option to buy a 13in MacBook Air. This is a 256GB version of the notebook and will cost you R1,500/m over 24 months. That’s R36,000 in total, by our reckoning, but Avo seems to think it’ll only cost you R24,940. Included with the bundle is a 2nd-generation Apple Pencil and a set of Apple’s AirPods Max. Add ’em all together and the price looks… more or less fine. A cash purchase will net you all of the above for about R32,500, but there’s an even cheaper cash price on the app.

The next bundle offers the same monthly payments (R1,500/m) but varies on what you’re getting. An iPhone 13 Pro Max (which better bloody be the 256GB version, at this price) and a set of AirPods Pro, for the same payment at the end of the period. Again, calculated over 24 months, that’s R36,000. But the app seems to believe it can give you this bundle (which doesn’t specify which iPhone 13 Pro Max you’re getting) for just R24,940.

Or perhaps you can hit up the Avo app for the third deal — R800/m for an iPad Air 10.9in — which looks like the 128GB version — whether it’s the WiFi or cellular version is up for debate. There’s a bit more wonky math in place here — 800 bucks over two years is R19,200, according to every calculator we’ve ever met. Still, this bundle apparently costs just R12.110 if you pick it up on credit. Don’t ask us. Must be that financial wizardry we keep hearing about.
