PUBG: New State now available on the Play Store and App Store

PUBG: New State

New mobile battle royale shooter, PUBG: New State is now available on the Play Store and App Store to download for free in all regions. It was first revealed all the way back in February this year with developer Krafton Inc. giving us an 11 November release date. And would you look at that, that’s today.

Our first impression is that it just looks like a “futuristic” reskin of the first game. However, if you look deeper, you’ll find that to be mostly true. The new game is “set in the PUBG world” in the year 2051. We’re not sure if there’s supposed to be a story here. We doubt it.

There have been some minor changes made to Erangal, the first map from the first game. Some buildings are a bit destroyed now, because the future. And some, like the military base, have a high-tech skin.

There’s also a new gameplay mode, team deathmatch, and other minor tweaks like dodge-rolling and storing loot in vehicles — nothing too groundbreaking.

PUBG: New State — the same, but different

The pre-rendered reveal trailer shows off amazing visuals and what appears to be a new destruction system for the environment. But, as with almost every mobile game in existence, those features and graphics are only for trailers. That said, the required specs to run the game aren’t too demanding.

They say you’ll need a 64-bit CPU (if you’ve got a smartphone from the last year or two you should be fine), 2GB or more RAM, Android 6.0 or newer, and about 2GB of storage space.

There have been mixed reviews so far with many people saying they are experiencing connection issues. That is to be expected on day 1 of a game launch, especially one of this size. You can suss out all the known issues in the release notes here.
