TikTok, the only social media without Stories is getting Stories

TikTok

You don’t have to know how TikTok, the vertical video-sharing platform works to know exactly what it is. Its short-form edited videos have taken over the internet in recent years, and it’s not showing any indication of slowing down. Now, it may have another feature in the cauldron — and it’s one we know very well already.

The clock’s TikTok

Instagram was the first to carbon-copy a popular Snapchat feature called Stories. Stories are also short-format vertical videos, but there’s a time limit on ‘em. The feature took off, and almost every social platform available quickly picked it up and implemented it in some way — even Facebook, Linkedin and Spotify

This version will work in a similar way — users can publish short videos with other media and graphics attached to ‘em, and they last only 24 hours.

“We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience. Currently we’re experimenting with ways to give creators additional formats to bring their creative ideas to life for the TikTok community,” a TikTok spokesperson told the BBC

Interestingly, this comes directly after Twitter binned its disappearing ‘Fleets’ feature, and WhatsApp rolled out its disappearing messages feature. Struggling to keep up? Same here.
