Yesterday, Telegram increased the maximum number of participants in a video call to 1,000, which is great if you have that many friends or want to host a virtual event perhaps.
Not to be outdone, Microsoft updated its Microsoft 365 roadmap to show it will be raising the maximum number of participants in Teams video calls to 25,000 — but only in October and only if you’re in the US Department of Defence.
Luckily, if you’re in a different branch of the US government then you’ll only need to wait until September to have up to 25,000 people in your Teams video calls. If you don’t fall into either of those categories then you should probably get back to work. What are you doing reading a South African tech site anyway?

As for the rest of us stuck with the measly 300-person limit to our calls, we will just have to sit and wait patiently for these updates to get to us, if they ever do. Maybe we will get lucky when we all move to Windows 11 soon, as Microsoft is building Teams integration into the OS. If there was ever a time for updates to come, it’s then.
Alternatively, if you’re looking to hold a large virtual event then maybe think about looking at another platform. While Microsoft says “Teams is for everyone” we don’t think they meant all at once.
